In a glass case in Brisbane, a lump of pitch has been slowly dripping through a funnel since 1927. In ninety-nine years it has managed nine drops.

Pitch looks solid. You could shatter it with a hammer. But given enough time it flows, about one drop per decade, and the experiment exists purely to prove it. No one has ever actually seen a drop fall. The one person who came closest stepped out for a cup of tea.

Some things are only visible to the very, very patient.

The experiment has outlived its founder, two custodians, and every deadline ever set near it. It is expected to keep going for another century. It is in no rush, and neither, for the next minute or so, are you.
